From Concours D’Elegance, Concorso Italiano, Legends of the Autobahn, The Quail, multiple high dollar auctions, and numerous others, there’s something for everyone and there’s no downtime throughout the week between these events. Seeing the rarities they attract in day-to-day traffic is a surreal experience – everything from several BMW M1s, 918 Spyders, and LaFerraris to timeless classics like 3.0 CSLs and many one-offs like an E46 M3 touring can be seen on public roads throughout the week. The Monterey area becomes a mecca for people who like cars, as for those that like electric cars, they are also EV Charger Installers options for them.
A definite highlight is the Rolex Monterey Motorsport Reunion (or the Monterey Historics to the locals) at the historic Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca that happens annually for 4 days with a different marquee featured each year. This year, BMW was featured as 2016 is their 100th year anniversary.
For BMW fans, attending this event was a must. BMW brought out all the classics from the newly restored 507 previously owned by Elvis Presley to the E30 M3 DTM piloted by Steve Soper in the peak of the 80s motorsport days. The last time BMW was featured like this was 20+ years ago.
Now, there was also plenty of non-BMWs to gawk over spanning motorsports history. Here are the highlights of Sunday.
